Listen to the wind. Listen to the waves as they crash
against the shore. Listen to the sound of a child’s heart beat when they fall
asleep on your chest after crying for an hour. Listen to the crazy silence
during a power outage. Silence that makes me miss the hum of modern day
society. Listen to nature, to the sounds of the forest, to the language of the
trees. Oh yes, they talk. It isn’t communication with words like humans have,
but they do talk. And they remember. They remember more than you ever will,
because they live longer than you do. Unless they get cut down. Or burned down.
Alright, most forest fires are from humans. Listen to Smoky
the Bear- Only YOU can prevent forest fires! Not sure what that means for the
forestry service or the rangers. Does it also apply to people who live in the
desert and are no where near a forest? I’m just wondering. What about babies?
Are infants, little ones who haven’t even mastered crawling yet, supposed to
prevent forest fires? Better question yet- are they starting them??? Damn pyro
