Bout of Books 19 Read-a-Thon #RAT May 8 to 14 #boutofbooks post 1 #insixwords

I’m taking part in the Bout of Books 19 Read-a-thon number 19 from May 8 to 14.

You may even find a challenge over there created by yours truly! (May 9)

#boutofbooks 19 is in May 2017

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 8th and runs through Sunday, May 14th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 19 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team

(Note= While I’ve been a BoB expert in the past, I didn’t sign up this time due to A to Z burnout. I will volunteer again in the future.)

I reread Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard. Notice the quote. (The words are a lie, a speech she’s forced to read.) I’ve become increasingly convinced that this book isn’t actually fiction, but is using code words for America in 2017… I’m slightly kidding, except there are alternative facts, only a small percent of the population has wealth and power, and most of the people have a pre-existing condition (red blood) which is what makes them barely worthy of life (according to the one-percenters). You could call me crazy, but there’s really something about this book that raises my eyebrow.

(I previously read this book during the May 2015 BoutofBooks.)

  1. I can understand your not signing on for another marathon. I’m marathoned out this year and I didn’t do the A to Z!

If we step back and look at pre-existing conditions from a broader perspective, we’ve all got a major one. It’s called mortality. I’m waiting for an insurance company to stop insuring humans and take on only robots programmed to live forever.

    1. Well, ha ha ha, I know I have one. And frankly, if it passes, I’m not sure how I’m going to handle it. But that’s an issue I try to keep off the blog (though life sneaks in, doesn’t it?). Insurance companies seem to be a moderately okay idea gone wrong, horribly wrong. “Some wizards go bad. One went as bad as you can go…” Pretty much.
