Some sum-sum-summertime Goals

Big Goals Bloghop Banner

Good-bye to Ju-ly!

This was a messed up month.
I ended up in the middle of nowhere for a ceremony. See above image for a Google view of nowhere.
This month also included the tragic loss of a friend’s six-month-old, who has since been cremated.
Then my cousin’s son was born. And three days later, my other cousin (father to the one I just mentioned), died. Just… poof! One minute he’s playing with his grandkids, the next minute he’s in an ambulance having heart attacks.

Photobucket changed their hosting policy without email notification, even to paid users such as myself.
“$2.49 / month — Account does not allow any image linking or 3 rd party image hosting.”
Thus a great many of my images vanished from around the Internet. I’m working diligently to rectify this situation, but it takes time, which means I’ve accomplished less of my other goals! Thanks, Photobucket.

I’ve been taking part in the “Down the TBR hole” meme. (It’s not exactly a hop. It’s more of an idea that multiple bloggers are taking part in whenever they feel like it.) At first, it just seemed like a good way to do some tidying up. Now I’m appreciating it from a marketing angle. What makes me want a book? How can I use that knowledge to sell books? Which book descriptions are well-written, and why do I like or dislike those blurbs?

I got busy and missed my window for promotion this month.

We don’t have a sign up linky.

Sorry, just not big enough yet to warrant paying for that option to use Linky Tools. Basically, we put the word out, post in advance normally and invite anyone who wants to join.

July was busy and I just did not get the promotion up. We do 4 times a year Jan, April, July, and Oct. Always on the LAST Wednesday of those months. I keep the Meme on my side bar and update the guidelines link in it. Story links are always due on the 20th of the month of the hop.

Our next hop is October. Story Link due October 20th. You can just send to me and I will make sure whoever host gets it, which might be me again anyway.

Sorry, you missed it. Really enjoy reading your stories.

  1. Sorry for your losses! It is harder, I think, when things happen suddenly like that. Not very nice of Photobucket to cut you off without warning. I noticed similar issues on John Holton’s site. Hopefully the rest of the year will be better for you!

    1. Yeah. Stuff has been rough.

  2. Sorry to hear about the loses in your life recently.

    1. Thanks.

  3. Yay. You’ve got a book to launch in September. That’s exciting and hopefully a lot of the other work you’ve been doing – building your Twitter list, etc – will help shift copies. Hope it all goes well.

    1. Still hoping to meet that goal.

  4. That is a mighty busy life! …And yeah, I stopped using photobucket too 🙁

    1. Pretty much had to stop using it. I’m guessing the site wants to drive users away. I don’t know why.
