#NaNoProMo National Novel Promotion Month took place in May. I missed it. Better late than never!
The post suggests making Bookstore appearances and going to Conventions and Book Festivals, all where I could Pass out business cards, Flyers, and Book swag. None of that is going on today in my world.
Name Drop your book/ Tell them you’re an author! For a good time, picture me (okay, since you probably don’t know what I look like, picture Michael Spears) holding up Fractions of Existence and pointing between the book and myself for three minutes, and a person standing there nodding and smiling.
“Yeah, that’s a book… Book… Bah ooo ka… No? Uh, you want me to read it to you? No. Okay, sorry. Umm… You want me to message the author? Look, I’m really busy here. Okay, no, sorry. Oh, you’re the author? Oh! And that’s your book. Ah, okay. Well, congratulations. I’m gonna go now.”
Okay, now picture I at least think ahead and put a post-it note on the book.
“Oh, you’re the author? That’s nice dear.”
I’m sure this works out better for people who aren’t me. But thanks for the advice.
Pass out ARCs – Free titles may seem like it hurts like heck but ARCs are a great review opportunity and who says no to free books? Actually, I know a few people who have “too many” books on their TBR and thus are, in fact, turning down free books.
Ask for reviews I’ve done that. It hasn’t worked well thus far.
Libraries – Donate to libraries!
Allentown, PA “The library reserves the right to discard any donated material without notifying the donor. Unfortunately the Library cannot accept all donated material.”
Bethlehem – Accepts money.
Berks County “Donate funds, books, time, and more.”
Easton The Library gladly accepts books.
Emmaus — They actually might accept books.
Northampton We are currently not accepting book donations.
Philadelphia Donation of books may be delivered to The Book Corner, a secondhand book shop selling general interest titles to benefit public libraries.
That’s a summary of a few of my PA area libraries. It looks like Easton, Emmaus, and some of the Berks County libraries might accept book donations.
