Masquerade: Oddly Suited #Giveaway and #BookTour of the #IWSG Anthology #GuestPost by Angela Brown

Masquerade: Oddly Suited #BookTour of the #IWSG anthology Angela Brown #GuestPost

Masquerade: Oddly Suited (link) is an anthology of diverse genres. There’s a bit of science fiction, some fantasy, contemporary, and more. At its heart is the theme of “YA Romance.”

For my story, A Diver’s Ball, I wondered what music could serve as a backdrop to the story, say…if it were ever made into a very short movie. Let me share what the story is about to give you some basis for the choices I made:

You can be anything you want in the online world of Cumulus. A human. An elf. A powerful beast mutation from your wildest imagination. But can you be in love?

Sixteen-year-old Alyssa hopes so.

Alyssa is stoked she’s finally of age to attend the granddaddy of online parties: the Diver’s Ball. And wonder of all wonders, her online gamer crush – erm – bud, Irv, asked her to go with him…as his date!

Before her avatar can don the perfect corset and dress in honor of the ball’s Steampunk theme, a once-in-a-lifetime quest barges in on her plans. Then the sudden onset of parental controls threatens to ruin everything.

Faced with these dilemmas, Alyssa makes a decision that impacts not just her online, but her real world life as well.

And oh, the consequences…

So, my music choices –

To kick things off, I’d want something energizing and epic. Because that’s the mood of the character when she first arrives on the scene. Now, how long she stays that way isn’t the point 🙂 So “Victory” from Two Steps From Hell is what I’d pick.

Next, since things can’t exactly stay perfect like any of us are want to wish, I’d go with Coldplay’s “Paradise.”

Then, there is a choice and from that choice, actions to take. Two Steps From Hell’s “El Dorado” would be great, especially if the consequences of the choice were played out in a montage.

Finally, because this is a romance and it isn’t a spoiler that I’m going for some form of a happy ending, I give you “Halo” from Beyonce.

I hope this piqued your interest. And remember, mine is but one of several wonderful stories from a great group of authors, of which I’m humbled to be a part.
